Here is the updated Resolution - we will present a summary of any comments to the Governor's Council on 11/8:
Whereas pharmaceutical costs are one of the most significant sources of health care expenditures, and
Whereas pharmaceutical companies use data on physician prescribing patterns to target physicians with sophisticated sales tactics, and
Whereas physician-pharmaceutical relations are frequently identified by the public as being one of the most serious potential conflicts of interest for physicians, therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the ACP/MSMS work towards legislation that would prohibit pharmacies from providing physician-specific prescribing data to pharmaceutical companies and other non-regulatory entities which are not involved in an individual patient’s care.
